Jeremy Leal writes complete thoughts about culture, movies, books, shows, and politics, following ideas wherever they lead until they reach enough clarity that others can build on them.

He sees it as his responsibility, living in the heart of the American empire, to think carefully about the systems and stories most people are taught to take for granted.

Making these thoughts and ideas accessible is the star that guides his writing. He believes that once you understand something, you inherit some responsibility to change it, even if that change starts locally, imperfectly, and alongside other people.

Jeremy also serves as a delegate for the San Diego Green Party, not because he believes politics lives only in elections, but because he wants to participate in the same struggles he writes about. Working with independent organizations has also shown him what organizing looks like without the resources of corporations or billionaires: more resourceful and built through ordinary people giving what they can.

Outside of TLC, Jeremy writes everything from rap bars to psychological takes on Carmela Soprano, from House of the Dragon to James Blake, always chasing the same question: What do the stories we tell reveal about the people we've become?
